Shishapangma is the fourteenth highest mountain in the world, the lowest of the 8000 meter peaks. It is a massive peak with a long, steep, craggy southern face.

It is the high peak of the Langtang Himal, and looms over its much lower satellite peaks. It is located almost due north of Kathmandu, on the Tibet side of the border. Shishapangma is one of the easiest eight-thousanders to climb.
The standard route ascends from the north side, and boasts relatively easy access, with vehicle travel possible to base camp at 5,000 metres (16,400 feet).
